Green Mountain Reservoir is a storage reservoir and the level fluctuates up to about 40 ft. from spring to fall.  In the winter the reservoir is drawn way down to allow for spring snow runoff.  When it starts filling in early spring, it will fill fairly quickly (often 1-2' a day) and historically is full by end of June.  The level will usually begin to recede about mid-August.  The levels are dependent on water usage on the Front Range because the Green Mountain Reservoir is used to replace that water that should flow down the Colorado River but is pumped to the Front Range from Lake Granby and Dillon Reservoir.  As the following pictures show though, even when the reservoir is not "full" there is plenty of water to recreate.
THE MARINA OFFERS:

In the summer the Green Mountain Reservoir is a boater's playground - fishing boats, jet skis, speed boats, water skis, wake boards, wind surfers and pontoons cruising - all surrounded by the spectacular mountain backdrop of the dramatic Gore Range and the Williams Peak Range.

Heeney Marina sets at the northwest end of the Green Mountain Reservoir, in the community of Heeney.  Bring your own boat or rent one!

Although trout fishing is great, the reservoir is best know for its excellent kokanee salmon, some of the biggest in the state... and snagging is permitted from September through December. The winter offers huge lake trout to the patient ice fisherman.

The water levels often fluctuate through the summer but boating is the BEST June through mid-September.

The Heeney Marina, at the north end of the reservoir, offers a public boat ramp and parking, slip rentals, dockside fuel and a small store with snacks, ice, tackle and boat items.  The marina also rents fishing boats and pontoon boats (no speed boats, ski boats, jet skis or wave runners)

Pontoon - Take the family fishing or enjoy an afternoon cruising on one of our pontoons. 18' pontoon (seats up to 6) or our 20' fishing pontoon (seats up to 8 persons with 2 seats in rear) or the 24' "party barge" (seats up to 10 persons) - all have bimini tops, steering consoles and 50 or 60hp motors.

Deluxe Fishing boats - Fish in comfort on 18' aluminum fishing boat - Comfortably seats 3 persons (4 persons maximum) 45hp motor, trolling motor, 3 cushioned seats, steering console, fish finder, rod holders and live well or our 16' Tri Hull with steering console and seats up to 4 persons.

(or enjoy one of our smaller)
